• Description: Psychotropic agent with anticonvulsant, hypnotic, anxiolytic, anti-ischemic and anesthetic properties. Inhibits glutamate release from presynaptic terminals and increases Na + -dependent glutamate uptake in rat cortical synaptosomes. Blocks voltage-dependent Na + channels and inhibits GABA uptake by striatal synaptosomes; neuroprotective.
