• Description: Lapachol is a naturally occurring napthoquinone isolated from the stem bark of Handroanthus impetiginosus . Vitamin K antagonist. High doses of lapachol promoted metastasis in a mouse model (acting via vitamin K antagonism) while low doses suppressed metastasis. Decreases proliferation of hypertrophic scar fibroblasts. Displays useful antitrypanocidalactivity against Trypanosoma crusi and may represent a new therapeutic agent for Chagas disease.
