    SEE ALSO...

MPP4 Antibody (B-2) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects MPP4 of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). MPP4 Antibody (B-2) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. MPP4, also known as membrane protein, palmitoylated 4, is a 637 amino acid protein that belongs to the membrane-associated guanylate kinase (MAGUK) family and is primarily localized in the cytoplasm, playing a crucial role in the development of retinal photoreceptors. MPP4 is highly expressed in the retina, with lower expression levels observed in the testis and brain, and contains a guanylate kinase-like domain, an SH3 domain, a PDZ domain, and two L27 domains, which are essential for structural and functional integrity. Notably, MPP4 undergoes alternative splicing, resulting in five distinct isoforms, and has been implicated in autosomal recessive retinitis pigmentosa 26 (RP26), as MPP4 co-localizes with the associated gene on human chromosome 2q33.1. MPP4 phosphorylation during the cell cycle, particularly in the transition from interphase to mitosis, is vital for the disassembly of interphase structures and the activation of M phase enzymatic activities, highlighting MPP4′s importance in cellular processes and potential implications in retinal diseases.

Can MPP4 (B-2): sc-166396 monoclonal antibody be used to stain formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissue sections?

    Asked by: Randy McDonald
Thank you for your question. Yes, MPP4 (B-2): sc-166396 has been validated for use in IHC with paraffin-embedded sections. We recommend performing antigen retrieval with sodium citrate buffer (pH 6) and heat. The full protocol can be found here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/immunoperoxidase-staining
