  • specific for an epitope mapping between amino acids 322-351 at the C-terminus of PKAα cat of human origin
  • recommended for detection of PKAα catalytic subunit of mouse, rat and human origin by WB, IP, IF, IHC(P) and ELISA; also reactive with additional species, including and equine, bovine and porcine; may cross-react with cross-reactive with β and γ subunits
  • See PKAα cat (A-2): sc-28315 for PKAα cat antibody conjugates, including AC, HRP, FITC, PE, Alexa Fluor® 488, 594, 647, 680 and 790.
  • m-IgGκ BP-HRP is the preferred secondary detection reagent for PKAα cat Antibody (C-7) for WB and IHC(P) applications. This reagent is now offered in a bundle with PKAα cat Antibody (C-7) (see ordering information below). For additional m-IgGκ BP conjugates see our complete list of Mouse IgG Binding Proteins.

SEE ALSO...

PKAα cat Antibody (C-7) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody, engineered to target the protein kinase A catalytic subunit alpha (PKAα cat) with exceptional precision. Anti-PKAα cat antibody (C-7) recognizes a unique epitope mapped to amino acids 322-351 at the C-terminus of the human PKAα catalytic subunit, ensuring selective detection across multiple species including mouse, rat, human, equine, bovine, and porcine, and may also cross-react with the β and γ catalytic subunits. PKAα cat is a critical component of the cAMP-dependent protein kinase A (PKA) holoenzyme, which plays a pivotal role in mediating diverse cellular responses such as proliferation, ion transport, metabolism regulation, and gene transcription. Structurally, PKAα cat consists of a conserved kinase domain essential for catalytic activity, and a regulatory domain that modulates function through binding with cAMP. Post-translational modifications, particularly phosphorylation, are vital for regulating PKAα cat′s activity, stability, and interactions with other proteins, thereby fine-tuning the signaling pathways governed. PKAα cat monoclonal antibody (C-7) recognizes these modified forms of the protein, enhancing utility in studying the dynamic regulation of PKA in various physiological and pathological contexts. Whether used in western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, or enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA), PKAα cat (C-7) antibody provides researchers with a reliable tool to investigate the intricate mechanisms of PKA activation, including the release of catalytic subunits upon cAMP binding to regulatory subunits, and the subsequent phosphorylation of key substrates like the cAMP response element-binding protein (CREB) on Serine 133. By facilitating detailed analysis of PKAα cat′s structure and modifications, anti-PKAα cat antibody (C-7) supports the elucidation of signal transduction pathways and impact on cellular functions, making this reagent indispensable for advanced biomedical research.

What application is the blocking peptide sc-48412 P appropriate for?

Asked by: Randy McDonald
Thank you for your question. The blocking peptide is intended for use as a negative control, by pre-adsorbing the mouse monoclonal antibody against the antigen. For full protocol details, please contact our Technical Services Department or view our online protocol here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/peptide-neutralization

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good product!I tested this product for western blot. I used it at a dilution of 1: 500 over night at 4 ° C on cytoplasmic and nuclear lysates of Jurkat cells. I found an excellent functioning of the antibody that gives a very clear specific signal (40 kDa). To note the presence of a non-specific signal of about 35 kDa in nuclear lysates. I also tested this antibody for immunofluorescence by using it at a dilution of 1: 100 overnight at 4 ° C on Jurkat cells fixed in either paraformaldehyde or methanol.
