SEE ALSO...

Bax Antibody (6D150) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects Bax in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and immunohistochemistry. Bax is a critical pro-apoptotic protein that plays a vital role in the regulation of apoptosis, or programmed cell death, which is essential for maintaining cellular homeostasis and eliminating damaged or unwanted cells. The balance between Bax and its anti-apoptotic counterpart, Bcl-2, is crucial in determining cell fate; while Bax promotes apoptosis, Bcl-2 inhibits it, thus influencing various physiological processes and responses to stress. Bax is primarily localized to the outer mitochondrial membrane, where Bax facilitates the release of cytochrome c and other pro-apoptotic factors from the mitochondria into the cytosol, triggering the apoptotic cascade. The interaction between Bax and Bcl-2 is particularly significant, as Bax can form heterodimers with Bcl-2, effectively neutralizing its protective effects and promoting cell death in response to apoptotic signals. Understanding the dynamics of Bax and its interactions is essential for elucidating the mechanisms of apoptosis and developing therapeutic strategies for diseases characterized by dysregulated cell death, such as cancer. Anti-Bax antibody (6D150) provides a reliable tool for researchers investigating these critical pathways in various biological contexts.

Can Bax (6D150): sc-70408 monoclonal antibody be used to stain formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissue sections?

Asked by: Dr Ninau Qelp
Thank you for your question. Yes, Bax (6D150): sc-70408 has been validated for use in IHC with paraffin-embedded sections. We recommend performing antigen retrieval with sodium citrate buffer (pH 6) and heat. The full protocol can be found here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/immunoperoxidase-staining
