nuoB

Gene Symbol nuoB
Entrez Gene 7065439
Alt Symbol E2348_C_2427
Species Escherichia coli
Gene Type protein-coding
Description NADH dehydrogenase subunit B
Other Description -
Swissprots B7UFU5
Accessions B7UFU5 CAS09975 YP_002329931
Function NDH-1 shuttles electrons from NADH, via FMN and iron- sulfur (Fe-S) centers, to quinones in the respiratory chain. The immediate electron acceptor for the enzyme in this species is believed to be ubiquinone. Couples the redox reaction to proton translocation (for every two electrons transferred, four hydrogen ions are translocated across the cytoplasmic membrane), and thus conserves the redox energy in a proton gradient. {ECO:0000255|HAMAP-Rule:MF_01356}.
Subcellular Location Cell inner membrane {ECO:0000255|HAMAP- Rule:MF_01356}; Peripheral membrane protein {ECO:0000255|HAMAP- Rule:MF_01356}; Cytoplasmic side {ECO:0000255|HAMAP- Rule:MF_01356}.
