• Description: Polo-Like Kinase 4 (PLK4), aslo a member of the polo family of serine/threonine protein kinases. PLK4 localizes to centrioles, complex microtubule-based structures found in centrosomes, and regulates centriole duplication during the cell cycle. Unlike other Polo-Like Kinases, PLK4 contains a single polo box. Its expression increases gradually in S through M phase. Evidence suggests that PLK4 may monitor centrosome duplication and provide feedback to cell cycle regulators.
