Gene AGO2
Sequence The synthetic peptide used to raise the antibody Cat. No. 200187 is selected from a sequence within the N-term region of human Slicer. For blocking experiments, a 10 to 100 fold molar excess to antibody is recommended.
Description Eukaryotic translation initiation factor 2C 2, also known as Slicer protein or Argonaute-2, provides endonuclease activity to RNA-induced silencing complexes (RISC). Slicer cleaves siRNA/mRNA heteroduplexes bound to RISC. Slicer is essential for embryonic development and RNA-mediated gene silencing (RNAi). Slicer is localised in processing bodies (P bodies) that contain decapping enzymes, a 5'-to-3' exoribonuclease, LSm proteins, and RNAi machinery components.
