Function Multitasking protein that has dual roles in promoting cell proliferation and preventing apoptosis. Component of a chromosome passage protein complex (CPC) which is essential for chromosome alignment and segregation during mitosis and cytokinesis. Acts as an important regulator of the localization of this complex; directs CPC movement to different locations from the inner centromere during prometaphase to midbody during cytokinesis and participates in the organization of the center spindle by associating with polymerized microtubules. The complex with RAN plays a role in mitotic spindle formation by serving as a physical scaffold to help deliver the RAN effector molecule TPX2 to microtubules. May counteract a default induction of apoptosis in G2/M phase. The acetylated form represses STAT3 transactivation of target gene promoters. May play a role in neoplasia. Inhibitor of CASP3 and CASP7 (By similarity). {ECO:0000250}.
Subcellular Location Cytoplasm {ECO:0000250}. Nucleus {ECO:0000250}. Chromosome. Chromosome, centromere {ECO:0000250}. Cytoplasm, cytoskeleton, spindle {ECO:0000250}. Chromosome, centromere, kinetochore {ECO:0000250}. Midbody {ECO:0000250}. Note=Localizes on chromosome arms and inner centromeres from prophase through metaphase. Localizes to kinetochores in metaphase, distributes to the midzone microtubules in anaphase and at telophase, localizes exclusively to the midbody. Colocalizes with AURKB at mitotic chromosomes. Acetylation at Lys-129 directs its localization to the nucleus by enhancing homodimerization and thereby inhibiting XPO1/CRM1-mediated nuclear export (By similarity). {ECO:0000250}.

Anti-Survivin antibody - ab8228 from Abcam

Prices $394.00
Sizes 100 µg
Host Rabbit
Clonality Polyclonal
ICC/IF image of ab8228 stained SH-SY-5Y cells. The cells were methanol fixed (5 min) and incubated with the antibody (ab8228, 1µg/ml) for 1h at room temperature. The secondary antibody (green) was Alexa Fluor® 488 goat anti-rabbit IgG (H+L) used at a 1/1000 dilution for 1h. Image-iTTM FX Signal Enhancer was used as the primary blocking agent, 5% BSA (in TBS-T) was used for all other blocking steps. DAPI was used to stain the cell nuclei (blue). Alexa Fluor® 594 WGA was used to label plasma membranes (red).

Anti-Survivin antibody - ab469 from Abcam

Prices $403.00
Sizes 100 µl
Host Rabbit
Clonality Polyclonal
ab469 staining Survivin from Ovarian carcionoma tumour tissue sections by Immunohistochemistry (Formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded sections). Heat mediated antigen retrieval was performed (Citrate buffer pH=6, microwave oven) and the tissue was then formaldehyde fixed and blocked (Hydrogen peroxide 0.03%). An HRP conjugated goat anti-rabbit was used as the secondary antibody.See Abreview
